About
Gillian is a physiotherapist, clinical counsellor and mindfulness/yoga teacher.
She has been practising physiotherapy since 1998, specialising in persistent pain and integrating neuroscience, yoga, mindfulness (MBSR) and dry needling into her practices.
As a counsellor she priorities a collaborative, integrative and person-centred apporach that includes somatic and mindfulness therapies and MCBT.
Physiotherapy

Gillian has practised physiotherapy since 1998, with a focus on persistent pain, neuroscience and whole body health. As a yoga and mindfulness (MBSR) instructor and psychotherapist, Gillian has a comprehensive approach to her care and is certified in dry needling and IMS.
Gillian has specialised in: pain management for adults and children, interdisciplinary pain management programs and pain education for clinicians. She receives referrals from orthopaedic, sports medicine and pain specialists across Vancouver Island.
Conditions treated include:
Persistent back/neck pain, sports injury, repetitive strain, CRPS, ‘fibromyalgia’, osteoarthritis, chronic inflammatory conditions, hypermobility syndromes, central sensitization and somatic symptom conditions.
Treatments include:
Dry needling/IMS, manual therapy, evidence-based pain management, educational resources, joint mobilisation, exercise and functional movement, soft tissue massage, postural training, myofascial release, sports taping, breathing techniques, foot biomechanics, meditation/mindfulness and yoga (all levels).
Yoga & Mindfulness
One-on-one private yoga, meditation and mindfulness practice sessions with Gillian are available to help develop a home practice or to manage stress, anxiety, pain, stiffness or injury.
This can be billed through extended health.

Counselling

Gillian is a registered clinical counsellor. She welcomes people with challenges around anxiety and depression, emotional regulation, life transitions and stress management and specialises in counselling for chronic illness, pain and somatic symptom disorders (including children with pain conditions by physician referral).
Her approach is compassionate and person-centred, blending mindfulness-based practice, CBT, somatic and trauma-informed practices. She offers resources and home practices based on your preferences, expectations and goals for counselling.
